Rebecca Coupe Franks was born in San Jose, California. Started playing the trumpet at age 10 in Palo Alto and continued playing when her family moved to Aptos, CA. Rebecca joined the Aptos middle school and high school jazz band. Rebecca attended San Jose State and soon after moved to New York City to finish her BA in music at The New School. In NewYork City 1988-96 Rebecca worked with many amazing jazz musicians: Clark Terry, Walter Davis Jr, Laurie Frink, Norman Simmons, Slide Hampton, Kenny Barron, Cindy Blackman Santana, Virginia Mayhew, Mulgrew Miller, Gregory Hutchinson, Yoron Israel, Kevin Hays, Scott Colley, Tito Puente, Art Blakey, Hank Jones, Claire Daly, Jimmy Heath, Laura Dryer, Brad Mehldau, Jevon Jackson, Donny McCaslin and many more.

Rebecca Coupe Franks teaches at SUNY New Paltz and works as a freelance musician and composer. Rebecca has an M.M from Eastman School of Music 2022 and Is planning a tour to promote her new album” Planets.”
